Environment
Vermont is a beautiful state and our stewardship of the environment has kept it that way. I have learned from Senator Jeffords, Governor Douglas, and others that protecting our environment and ensuring our state's economic prosperity are not mutually exclusive. We can work together to ensure both, and Stowe has proven that. Our own Stowe Land Trust and our town's Conservation Commission are well-respected entities that provide real leadership on environmental issues. They have shown how residents and businesses, town government and state government, can work together to conserve special lands and ensure we can all enjoy clean waterways and beautiful forests and greenspaces. Other communities in the state, and the state itself, can learn from our success.
