WEEKS OF SEPTEMBER 14 and 28, 2006

Balance Needed in the Legislature

To the Editor,

Rarely, in our experience, has it been so important to gain balance and, indeed, implement change in a State Legislature than it is in Vermont now. Our Town and State are both on the verge of plunging into an economic environment so expensive and unfair that, not only will businesses and individuals cease to move here, but many life long Vermonters and recent transplants will flee to more economically conducive places to live! We must elect reasonable, moderately thinking representatives to our State Government who understand this core issue, and who seek to reverse the currently disastrous path we are on!

Heidi Scheuermann is just such a person. She is a life-long Vermonter who grew up in a Stowe family that understood business, and that taught her the fierce independent spirit than characterizes Vermonters. We worked with her closely when she helped us move the Vermont Ski Museum to Stowe. We found her to be highly respected by most, reasonable always, and as hardworking as any. She has ingrained in her an independent streak that drew her to work many years for Jim Jefford’s organization. Her extensive involvement and service to Stowe has resulted in her election to the Select board, where she has distinguished herself.

We believe that Heidi Scheuermann would serve us well, and that she would seek to solve many of the difficult issues facing Stowe, and Vermont , today.

New Legislator Must Understand Stowe

To the Editor,

We moved to Stowe almost 30 years ago, and it has been a wonderful community to live in and raise our family.  But in recent years it has become more and more difficult to afford it, and many of the reasons why have come from policies developed in the State House.

Stowe’s current State Representative is now retiring and we have a chance to choose a new one.  We would like our new representative to have a real understanding of Stowe and useful experience in the political world.  Heidi Scheuermann is that person.

Heidi is a native of Stowe.  She is the Chair of the Stowe Select Board and has businesses in town.  She is under the same pressures we all are, and understands that something needs to be done at the state level to ensure that our community remains a vibrant one, and becomes again a community where people can afford to live.

Heidi has worked for Senator Jeffords, immersing herself in federal and state issues for almost ten yea rs.  She has worked with members of all parties to get things done for Stowe and Vermont , and she will use that experience for Stowe in the State House.

Join us in voting for Heidi Scheuermann for the Vermont House of Representatives on November 7th.

She Knows Stowe and Public Policy

To the Editor,

I am writing to urge all Stowe voters to vote for Heidi Scheuermann for our state representative.  I have known Heidi all of her life – from her days in kindergarten and those on the Stowe field hockey team, and today, as chair of the Stowe Select Board.

Heidi knows and understands Stowe.  She is well aware of how we have changed throughout the years, and what needs to be done to improve this wonderful community.  She cares deeply for her hometown and has spent much of her adult life working to make it better.

Even more important, however, is that Heidi knows how to do it in the world of public policy.  Heidi has spent many years helping to develop policy on the federal, state and local levels.  She knows the issues themselves, and the ins and outs of working in politics.  Stowe needs that kind of representation in the Statehouse.  The enormous problems we continue to face with property taxes, health care, and economic development require Stowe to have a representative who is experienced and versed in the issues.

Heidi is an experienced leader at a time when Stowe needs one in the State House.  I urge the voters of Stowe to join me in voting for Heidi Scheuermann on November 7th.

Heidi for House

Editor,

I attended the Lamoille County Candidate’s Forum at the Fish and Game club on Sept. 7.  One of the sponsors of the forum was a group I am a member of, the Lamoille County Farm Bureau.

As one of just two Stowe voters that I know of who were there, I wanted to share with Stowe residents how impressed I was with Heidi Scheuermann, one of our candidates for the Vermont House of Representatives.  Heidi was very knowledgeable about al l of the issues that were brought up.  These included farming concerns, the state of our region’s business environment, and gun control, among others.  Heidi was able to express her views thoughtfully and clearly, and had great ideas about how to address the problems facing our community and all of Vermont .

It was clear Thursday that Heidi Scheuermann has the experience and leadership needed to represent Stowe in the Vermont House, so I urge all Stowe residents to vote on Nov. 7 for Heidi Scheuermann.
